How to use PDF to Excel in 3 steps

  1. Upload the PDF with tables

    Drag the PDF onto the page or click to browse your device. A file in Google Drive or a direct download link works too.

  2. Check the table is text

    Open the PDF and try selecting a number inside the table. If you can, the cells will separate far more cleanly than in a scan.

  3. Convert and open in Excel

    Click Convert to Excel, then download the .xlsx or save it to Google Drive and open it with Google Sheets.

Frequently asked questions

Why are some columns shifted in the spreadsheet?

Cell boundaries are worked out from where the text sits on the PDF page. Merged cells, tables without borders or text that wraps inside a cell can split oddly, so check the columns before you add formulas.

Can it read tables from a scanned PDF?

Usually not. A scanned table is an image with no text to split into cells, so the tool suits PDFs exported directly from software.

What if my PDF has no tables?

The tool is built to extract table data. For a PDF that is mostly paragraphs, use PDF to Word to get an editable document instead.

Is it safe to upload payroll or bank statements?

Files travel over HTTPS, are processed on BigQTools servers and are deleted automatically 2 hours after upload. You can also press Delete now as soon as you have your spreadsheet.
