Features
Mute video is handy when you want to share a clip without a private conversation in the background, get rid of wind noise, or prepare footage for new music in a video editor. The tool removes the audio track entirely and copies the video stream as is when possible, so picture quality is unchanged and processing is fast.
- Removes the audio track completely instead of just turning it down.
- Copies the picture without re-encoding whenever the format allows.
- Keeps MP4, MOV, MKV and WebM containers; other formats become MP4.
- Fast, because the video usually doesn’t need re-encoding.
- Results get a “-tat-tieng” suffix, e.g. “screen-recording-tat-tieng.mp4”.
Frequently asked questions
Does muting reduce video quality?
No. When the format allows it the picture is copied untouched and only the audio is removed.
Can I mute just one section?
The tool removes sound from the whole video. To silence a single section you need a video editor.
How do I keep the audio as a separate file?
Run Video to MP3 on the same video first to save the sound, then use Mute video for the picture.
Will an AVI file stay AVI after muting?
No. MP4, MOV, MKV and WebM keep their format, while others such as AVI are converted to MP4.
