How to use Change volume in 3 steps

Open your audio file

Set the level
Move the Volume slider: it starts at 150%, 100% leaves the sound unchanged and anything lower makes it quieter. Or switch on Normalize loudness, then pick an output format (MP3 by default).

Apply and save
Click Change volume, then download the file, save it to Google Drive or copy its download link. From there you can go on to cut or merge it.
Features
Change volume raises or lowers the level of a whole audio file by percentage, from 10% to 300%. It’s useful for lectures and meetings recorded too quietly, or a background track that needs turning down. With Normalize loudness on, FFmpeg’s loudnorm filter applies the EBU R128 standard and the manual level is ignored.

Frequently asked questions
What’s the difference between normalizing and the volume slider?
The slider multiplies the level by a fixed amount, so a quiet file stays quieter than a loud one. Normalize loudness targets the EBU R128 standard instead, raising files that are too quiet and lowering files that are too loud.
Will 300% make my audio distort?
It can. If the recording is already fairly loud, a big boost clips the loudest moments and they sound harsh. Try 150% first, listen, and go higher only if needed.
How do I make several recordings equally loud?
Run each file through Normalize loudness one at a time. Because every file is brought to the same standard level, they end up sounding about as loud as each other, ready to join with Merge audio.
Can I make a video louder?
This tool takes audio files only. If the sound is all you need, extract it with Video to MP3 and continue into Change volume; the result is an audio file without the picture.
