Features

Restore Old Photo uses AI to repair faded, scratched or creased family photos: it removes scratches and creases, sharpens faces and adds colour to black-and-white pictures. Turn each fix on or off; Colourise turns itself on when the photo you pick is nearly black and white. Standard quality takes about 30 seconds, and High quality gives a larger, more detailed result in about 3 minutes on paid plans.

  • Finds and removes scratches and creases on scanned or photographed prints.
  • Sharpens blurry, soft faces.
  • Colourises black-and-white photos; the option turns itself on for nearly grayscale pictures.
  • Two quality levels: Standard in about 30 seconds, High in about 3 minutes on paid plans.
  • Before and after slider; the result is a PNG that keeps every detail.
  • Images are deleted from the server after 2 hours and never used to train AI.

Frequently asked questions

Should I scan or photograph a paper print?

A scanner gives the most even light. With a phone, lay the print flat, shoot straight down in even light and avoid glare from lamps, since glare is easily mistaken for scratches.

Are the added colours the real ones?

AI guesses colours from what it sees, such as skin, sky and plants, so they look natural but may not match the real colour of a dress or an object from back then. If you do not like them, turn Colourise off and restore again.

What is the difference between Standard and High quality?

Standard takes about 30 seconds and is good enough for most photos. High gives a higher-resolution, more detailed result, takes about 3 minutes and is part of the paid plans.

Are my family photos stored?

Your originals and results are deleted from BigQTools servers after 2 hours, and you can delete them right after downloading. BigQTools does not use your photos to train AI.
